Strawberry Mango Green Smoothie

Leafy greens have earned a reputation for being one of the healthiest foods on the planet. Their help with lowering cholesterol, maintaining healthy vision and preventing colon cancer are great benefits for everyone. Providing a great source of calcium and vitamin B make them an even more vital part of a healthy diet for vegans and vegetarians.

Personally, I enjoy eating salads everyday but I understand that for a lot of people it can be a chore. For people who do not prefer eating raw leafy greens, adding them to a green smoothie is a great way to stock up on some of the important phytochemicals and micronutrients that are packed into each and every leaf.

I prefer spinach because the taste is mild and it blends in really well to my smoothies. A good trick is to add the liquid and the greens first and blend until smooth. Then add the rest of the ingredients. That way you don’t end up with a bunch of leafy chunks in your green smoothie!

Another tip I have heard is to chew as you drink your smoothie. This simple act of chewing helps your body begin to create the digestive enzymes that naturally occur when eating and will your body to help utilize the nutrients.
