5 Fun Vegan Halloween Treats

Fun Vegan Halloween Treats

Halloween is almost here and I’ve been trying to think of something fun to bring to a costume party we’re attending. This is my first year as a vegan so I looked around a little to see what kind of fun vegan halloween treats everyone is making.

Though I’ve never considered myself a person with a particularly strong sweet tooth, there are times when I do have cravings for treats! As soon as it hits October I get excited to make all of my favorite fall time treats like caramel corn, pumpkin breads, rum cake, cranberry mouse, etc. This year, I will be learning to veganize some of these favorite recipes and hopefully trying a lot of new ones as well.

My search turned up a bunch of cool recipes, so I decided to share them here. If you have any other favorites, please let me know in the comments!

Vegan Biscoff Coconut Caramel Apples

from: Slim Pickin’s Kitchen

When I saw this recipe I was very curious what makes the caramel and interested even further to find out that it uses cookie butter. The only cookie butter I’ve tried is the Speculoos from Trader Joe’s which Amber claims has nothing on her favorite, Biscoff. Intrigued! I love caramel apples and can’t wait to try this recipe!

Vegan Halloween Carrot Cakes with Witchy Green Avocado Buttercream

from: Treese, Love + Happiness

I’ve heard of using avocado in desserts before, but this recipe really makes great use of the green color! Carrot cake is so delicious and I can imagine it would be even better paired with avocado frosting – yum! A coworker of mine was just asking me the other day about whether or not vegans could eat baked goods. I explained the many ways baked goods could be made vegan, and these are a perfect example! Not to mention, these are absolutely adorable and festive -a perfect for a halloween party.

Frankenstein Avocado Toast

HALLOWEEN FOOD IDEAS: FRANKENSTEIN AVOCADO TOAST

Another cute idea using avocado! I love this because it’s super easy and also a fun activity for kids. And who doesn’t love avocado toast?

Dark Chocolate-Peanut Butter-Banana Truffle Spiders

from: Get Off Your Tush And Cook

Dark Chocolate-Peanut Butter-Banana Truffle Spiders

They say there is a first time for everything and right now is definitely the first time I’ve ever wanted to eat something with the word “spider” in the title! It is definitely Halloween season when creepy crawlers are on the menu – and boy do they look tasty. This eight-legged treats combine the holy trio of deliciousness, aka banana, peanut butter and chocolate. Oh, and pretzels! Ok that’s more than three but it just goes to show how much amazingness Marissa has managed to pack into such a small treat. Definitely going to be making these at some point.

Vegan Pumpkin Pie Ice Cream Bars

Vegan Pumpkin Pie Ice Cream Bars

I bought an ice cream maker attachment for my kitchen aid a while back and have been wanting to make a pumpkin flavor vegan ice cream. And since I received a Sugar Pie Pumpkin in last week’s CSA box I think it’s officially time! And how cute are these pumpkin pie ice cream bars? I especially love the idea JJ gives for making an ice cream pie out of it – yes, please! Can. not. wait!
